The Planet and Us - We Are More Connected Than We Think!

We often think of human health as something personal, shaped by what we eat, how we move, or how we live. But our health is deeply connected to the planet that surrounds us.
Planetary health describes this relationship as “the health of human civilisation and the state of the natural systems on which it depends” (Whitmee et al., 2015).
The air we breathe, the food we grow, the water we drink, the animals we share ecosystems with, they are not separate stories. They are part of the same system.

In fact, research increasingly highlights the importance of “integrating animal, human, and environmental perspectives” when confronting challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and infectious diseases (Pfenning-Butterworth et al., 2024).
Perhaps the harmony between humans and the Earth is far deeper than we realise.
To understand our health, we may first need to understand our planet.
